When children behave in unacceptable ways, physical punishment is never used. A nonconfrontational approach will be adopted; the child will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions. Adults do not shout or raise their voices in a threatening way. Children are never sent out of the room by themselves and techniques such as 'the naughty chair' are not used. Children are given one-to-one adult support in seeing what was wrong and working towards a better pattern of behaviour. We have a Behaviour Policy on the wall within the setting for all to read. We read this from time to time to our older children so they may be reminded of what we expect of them.

In cases of serious mis-behaviour the unacceptability of the behaviour should be made clear immediately by way of explanations. Problems are to be discussed with parents/carer so that a mutually acceptable solution can be reached and implemented.

Relationships between children and adults are excellent and the warm and friendly atmosphere does much for children’s sense of security." OFSTED
